The annual dance intensive aims to inhabit even more creative ideas and possibilities for dance professionals therefore it became ‘Winter Dance Summit’. Inviting creative movers to gather in the middle of the natural paradise of Nida (Lithuania). Due to challenging restrictions related to COVID-19 2021 transformed into COLONY room edition, but 2022 is here and we are ready to safely re-imagine, re-think, re-treat, re-UNITE live. 2021 was about finding that extra ROOM for new ideas and movement experiences to be inhabited into our mind, body, soul, and artistic carrier. 2022 is about the re-UNION with own and other body, with own and other ideas whilst researching what others have to share in the room, not on screen. We are ready to meet! Dance Colony is a search and the research platform for previously undiscovered movement territories and body landscapes, a chance to forge new friendships, to meet other movement professionals, to be inspired by creative thinkers and golden tips shared by the dance producers, overall to enrich oneself with a help of dance in a week-long dance-away experience. Each year we look for inspiring methods to cross the border: physical, mental, linguistic, cultural, artistic, pushing boundaries, connecting and inspiring us – the people of all nationalities and creative backgrounds. We are here to reunite our professional capacities and advance our creative souls and professional networks further. We truly believe that our Creative Minds inhabit our Intelligent Bodies. Get to know your teachers for a little bit more: CARLOS ALLER / FLOORWORK / BREAKORGANIC Carlos’s classes start with an inner meditation to improve body awareness and deepen the dancer’s movements. The classes are progressive, beginning with a warm-up and improvisation, and developing into higher complexity moves. In these classes, you will experience the junction between contemporary and urban dance. Carlos generally teaches floorwork, acrobatics, and repertoire from Frantics Dance Company. The classes embody a mixture of the tension of breakdance – hip-hop movements and the softness of contemporary dance. They strive to teach the dancer to listen and adapt to the flow of the music while infusing the dance with their own creative mark. MARINA PRAVKINA / JAZZ FUSION / JAZZ NOT JAZZ / HOUSE Marina develops an artistic path and improvisational dance language through the conception ‘Jazz not Jazz’. For the past years, she constantly worked on experimentation and research around textures of the sound and movement, the relation between musical instruments and the dancing body. Marina teaches UK jazz fusion and house dance styles, experimenting with footworks as an instrument for improvisation and “sound-texture” tools for the development of dance improvisation & practicing. NATALIA IWANIEC / GAGA DANCERS / IMPROVISATION From deep listening to the body to physical sensations. It’s a framework for discovering and strengthening the body and adding flexibility, stamina, agility, and skills including coordination and efficiency while stimulating the senses and imagination. Natalia’s classes offer a workout that investigates form, speed, and effort while traversing additional spectrums such as those between soft and thick textures, delicacy and explosive power, and understatement and exaggeration. Natalia is guiding dancers through awakening numb areas, increasing awareness of habits, and improving the efficiency of movement inside multilayered tasks, and dancers are encouraged to connect to pleasure inside moments of effort. MARIUS EIDRIGEVIČIUS / HIP-HOP Marius is a virtuoso in hip-hop and house dance styles and has discovered the path of educator since 2011.
