Cecilia & Levan have worked together since 2017. They are both professional tango dancers and Tango DJs, traveling Europe, Argentina and west asia teaching, performing and DJ-ing. Their base is Tbilisi, Georgia, where they run a tango school, weekly milongas and organize the “Tbilisi Tango Marathon”. They were semi-finalists of The Tango World Cup in 2019, 2021 and 2024. Together they run a Tango school in Tbilisi, Georgia located in an old internation school in the old part of the city. The building is made of heavy stone, with wide corridors and a giant hall where the tango classes take place - earning the nick name Hogwarts. It is in the same location the Tbilis Tango Marathon takes place, imbuing it with an atmosphere of grandiosity, romance and history. Cecilia is from Argentina and has participated in different Championships, becoming regional champion in the Tango Salon category and Milonga category, as well as becoming the finalist of the Metropolitan Championship in 2017, Milonga Category. In addition to promoting Tango, she promotes Argentine folk dances in countries such as Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Levan Gomelauri is one of the founders of the first Tango School in Georgia - "Tbilisi Tango". He is a TDJ in different Milongas in Tbilisi, as well as in Azerbaijan and Armenia. In addition, he has a Doctorate in Composition of Classical Music from Tbilisi Conservatory. He writes music and plays in different instruments, and in 2014 he founded a Tango band with the name "Tango Vagabundo" where he was playing the accordion. “In our Tango we always try to connect through emotions and express them through music that is why our dance is totally improvised. We believe this approach fosters an authentic dance experience. When teaching, we aim to link technique with personal sensations, encouraging students to discover and share their own feelings. And since the technique helps to understand each other as a couple, we propose different types of exercises, but where there is always more than one variant depending how they want to express themselves. We also incorporate music into our lessons, we propose exercises that help each student to listen to the different elements that each Tango offers us, since each letter, melody, voice, musical instrument, and story, generates different emotions, which we encourage our students to convey in their dancing”.
