Celebrating Lindy Hop and the legacy created by Frankie Manning and the many dancers and musicians of the 1920s - 1940s. Come celebrate Frankie Manning’s birthday and share World Lindy Hop Day with Singapore! We bring the happy dance to the heartlands for the weekend and we want you to join in the fun. This class is *highly recommended* for all levels as a starting point for the weekend. 12:15 -1:30pm Open Level Lindy Hop 2 with Angela Continuing on from the first class, Angela develops the “ground rules” into “bend the rules”! 2:30pm-3:45 Jazz Steps 1 Jazz Steps get your feet moving and your body dancing. Understanding how the movement works makes it easier to do everything! 3:45-5:00pm Jazz Steps 2 Faster, better, clearer. Angela’s got the moves and she’s got the ideas on how to use them - here’s where you can pick some of them up. 5:00 - 6:00pm Presentation by Angela - From Hackney to Mozambique - A lindy hop journey 7:30pm till 11:00pm - The Happy Dance Ball! After bending the rules, we break them! 5:30-7:00pm Big Band Bash in Botanics - Free public event hosted by the Botanical Garden, a World Heritage site! The Thomson Community Club's two bands, Thomson Big Band and Thomson Swing Band are traditional jazz big bands with saxophones, trumpets, and trombones, supported by a rhythm section. At their annual Big Band Bash at the Singapore Botanic Gardens this year, you will hear jazz standards from the 1930's and 40's .
