Hawaii's Hispanic Community celebrates Cinco De Mayo with a Celebration Block Party event on May 5th, 2019; Bringing it back to Chinatown after 12 years, where it all began. This free event is open to the public! Sunday, May 5, 2019 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Downtown, Chinatown, on Nuuanu Street The Cinco de Mayo Cultural Block Party specifically highlights Honolulu's connection to all the Beautiful Colors, Dances, Arts, Music, Folklore and Cuisine of Latin America. Local, Mexican, Puerto Rican restaurants will feature seasonal specialties, alongside Honolulu's Landmark establishments. Scroll thought-out Chinatown with "Mariachi Los Toreros", from Oxnard, California, headlining the event. (Mariachi Los Toreros™ was established on October 14, 2013 by Gustavo Bravo in the city of Oxnard, CA. By starting this group, Gustavo was realizing his dream of directing a Mariachi band that he could hold to the highest standards to continue the beautiful culture of Mexico and pass down to new generations the songs and traditions of our people. From the rhythmic sounds of Jalisco, the powerful rancheras of Jose Alfredo Jimenez and Vicente Fernandez, to the romantic boleros of Javier Solis, Mariachi Los Toreros™ performs with great pride the music that has inspired and brought so much joy to people for decades). Groove to the LIVE sounds of Hawai'i's finest "Eddie Ortiz & the Son Caribe Band" & "Agua Dulce Salsa Band". Dance and Shake through the evening with The Linda Melodia Salsa/Bachata Dancers, Brazilian Dancers of "Island Zouk", and "Zumba" Instructor Carolina Rivadeneyra-Enriquez & friends. Hawaii's Favorite Latin DJs throwin all down; DaLion of Judah, DJ Rod, DJ Rico, DJ Fee, DJ Ever, DJ CocoMan & Local Radio DJ's TBA Special Appearance: Miss Latina Hawaii; Noe, Miss Paradise Latina; Aleksya Batoon & Miss Aloha Latina; Tani De La Torre. BUT that’s not all! Check out the Low Riders Pride Hawaii Car Show and Latin Riderz Motorcycle Club displays on the streets. Take a ride on the "Mechanical Bull", or stop into a Beer Garden for a refreshing Beer or Margarita! Also featured at our block party this year is a Keiki Corner, 2-5pm with face painting, make & take crafts & Disney characters for picture taking. Don’t miss our RED HOT Chili Pepper Eating Contest, hosted by "Lady "V" ~ Dare to consume the hottest peppers on the face of the planet and win serious acclaim and prizes! How many Tacos can you Eat?
