SALSA FUNDAMENTALS by Clara and Xosé This 6-weeks workshop series comprises a specific syllabus designed for a progressive learning (see schedule below or in the event discussion), incorporating what you have learned from previous lessons to the next ones. Like constructing buildings, the main objective will be WORKING ON THE FOUNDATIONS, putting special emphasis on the technical aspects of salsa basics, that will progressively escalate in footwork and partnerwork variations to apply on the dancefloor. This 6-week series is oriented to create versatile, reliable and high-quality dancers by using a proved pedagogy from two instructors with years of experience: Clara Nieto and Xosé López. Xosé (Spain) has more than 16 years of experience in latin dance, attending, teaching and performing in dance congresses, and he was also a finalist in the World Salsa Footwork championship 'La Negra' in 2019. Clara (Cuba) is a professional dancer and teacher of traditional and contemporary Cuban Popular Dances with more than 20 years of experience. She traveled around the world attending dance congresses, teaching workshops and also performed as part of the Professional Company SaborDKY (pronounced Sabor De Calle). Currently, Clara and Xosé work together pursuing the preservation of the value of latin dance and to promote it among younger generations, fostering their diversity and inclusion through the passion they have for the music and performing arts. 👉Attention COVID Protocols from NYS: Face Mask Required😷 and Everyone must provide proof of full vaccination (including picture of the vaccine card on phone or the card itself). Nov. 9th (DONE) ---------- "Let's move'' 6:00- 7:00: Partner basic movements of cuban salsa seasoned with a twist of styling. 7:15-8:15: Turns technique: Individual and in couple. Nov. 16th (DONE) ----------- Style, style, style" 6:00-7:00: Salsa lady style. Technique and exercises focused on arms, hips and turns. 7:15- 8:15: Salsa men style. Technique and exercises focused on arms, footwork and turns. Nov. 23rd ----------- " Partner up and Shine" 6:00-7:00: Partner work combinations | Shines | Displacements. 7:15-8:15: Footwork applied to the in couple dance. Nov. 30th ----------- It's Rueda time" 6:00-7:00: Rueda de Casino: Basic structure and movements. 7:15-8:15: Rueda de casino: Dynamic and connected fun movements. Dec. 7th --------- “Putting all pieces together" 6:00-7:00: Let's play and connect with a fun styling partner work 7:15-8:15: Salsa Choreography Class: Develop your musicality and styling, and apply everything you have learned.
