Class: Harmony in Motion with Rose + Jam - April 3rd

~April 3rd ~ CLASS 6-7:30pm JAM 7:30-9pm -- START TIME -- Class starts promptly at 6pm, so please arrive before to allow time for check-in. -- ENTRANCE FEE -- $20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam. -- ACCESSIBILITY -- A discount of 50% is available for marginalized peoples, such as BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx and those who are experiencing financial hardship..... or pay what you can; NOTAFLOF. CLASS DESCRIPTION Harmony in Motion: Tuning to the Whole In this dynamic and interactive dance class, we will dive into the principles of improvisation and group dynamics to co-create spontaneous movement together. Through guided exercises, we will explore the the unexpected where each participant contributes and builds upon the movements of others, creating a shared dance narrative. ABOUT THE FACILITATOR Rose has a BFA in Dance and Theater from Naropa University. She found contact in college and has been a dancing fool ever since. After college, she spent 6 months interning at EarthDance in Western Mass. She was a long-time member of the Contact Improv community in D.C. and was a professional dancer with Dance Performance Group in D.C. Rose is thrilled to help facilitate the Sebastopol Jam! ACCESSIBILITY Being in the upstairs dance loft at Soft Medicine, we want to let folks know there is also an elevator at the back of the building, for anyone who needs that to get to the 2nd floor (though it involves considerably more walking). This is an indoor venue. Masks are optional. Anyone under age 18 is asked to attend with a guardian, and/or email us first to discuss. CLOTHING REQUEST If you are prone to saturating your clothes with sweat while dancing, please bring 1 or 2 changes of clothes - for the consideration of others. Please don't wear strong fragrances. MUSIC Sometimes the jam will have some pre-recorded music, sometimes we'll make sounds ourselves and some of the time it will be silent. Classically, CI has been done in total silence, and even when there is music, the emphasis is not on how it moves us. Know of someone proficient in improvising music?
