CLASS 6-7:30pm (blindfolded) JAM 7:30-9pm (blindfolds will be available to use but not specifically a blindfolded jam) -- START TIME -- *****THIS CLASS WILL BE A CLOSED CONTAINER. NO ADMITTANCE AFTER 6:30 PM*****PARTICIPANTS ARRIVING AFTER THIS TIME WILL BE ASKED TO COME BACK FOR THE JAM AT 7:30 PM. Class starts promptly at 6pm, so please arrive before to allow time for check-in. -- ENTRANCE FEE -- $20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam. -- FINANCIAL ACCESSIBILITY -- A discount of 50% is available for marginalized peoples, such as BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx and those who are experiencing financial hardship..... or pay what you can; NOTAFLOF. -- CLASS DESCRIPTION -- In this blindfolded contact improvisation immersion, participants explore movement, trust, and connection. By removing the visual sense, dancers are invited to deepen their awareness of body sensations, spatial relationships, and partner interactions. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, the experience is about letting go of expectations and embracing the unknown. Blindfolds will be provided. -- CLASS FACILITATOR -- Rose has a BFA in Dance and Theater from Naropa University. She found contact in college and has been a dancing fool ever since. After college, she spent 6 months interning at EarthDance in Western Mass. She was a long-time member of the Contact Improv community in D.C. and was a professional dancer with Dance Performance Group in D.C. Rose is thrilled to help facilitate the Sebastopol Jam! -- MUSIC -- Bay Area musician Jonathan will regale us with his soundscape during the jam. Not to be missed! Send their info our way! --MUSICIAN BIO-- Jonathan Kipp is a percussionist, accordionist, and accordion repairman based in Oakland, CA. He can be found in a number of settings, from classical to experimental, city to folk, composed to improvised. He especially enjoys accompanying theater and dance. Recently he has accompanied works by Juliana Frick, Miriam Wolodarsky and Rosemary Hannon, and Leslie Castellano and Kevin Dockery. He has played for Contact jams at the Berkeley Finnish Hall, The Center SF, and Synapsis in Eureka. -- CONTAINER GUIDELINES -- Please read the most updated version here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1G3zbWQuhbQWw14EUUqBYO1atPEBywD2NvLqQf6uqU3o/edit?usp=sharing -- CLOTHING REQUEST -- * Bring 1 or 2 changes of clothes, if you are prone to saturating your clothes with sweat while dancing. * Wear clothing that will keep your buttocks, genitals and nipples covered while moving in non-linear and unpredictable ways. * Don't wear strong fragrances. -- ACCESSIBILITY -- We are on the 2nd floor of Soft Medicine, accessible by the stairs or via an elevator in the back of the building. This is an indoor venue with a heater/AC system. Masks are optional.
