"Hang around – just a little bit" Class to jam by Sebas van Wetten @ Amsterdamjam Hanging around, over the body of a partner in CI, especially halfway upside down relaxing in the support, knowing that I'm safe in this awkward but super nice stretch – I love it ! Let us do that ! In this class, we'll practice some techniques to feel more safe in these situations. Learning/knowing how to land safely in our hands that dangle down easily to the floor; knowing how to play subtlely with our balance. And for the underdancer knowing how to support the overdancer with easy effortlessness, cooperating with the subtle balance of your partner. As always in my classes, we'll start with a nice warming up, and with some detailed focus of areas in our bodies and somatic awareness to support the needs for the work. Sounds nice, eh ? Maybe a little ambitious for a two hour class … ? We'll see where we get and what teases us to continue to play with. As a teacher, as a dancer. I also have a background as a teacher of Creative Dance (dansexpressie) - also a dance form in which improvisation is important, but where it is more about expressing yourself through dance. "I really like the playfulness of Contact-Impro, how we keep figuring out the rules of the dance together each time. It is a healthy way to keep the playing child in me alive. Teaching and dancing kept me inspired over the years." Besides dancing and teaching for more than 20 years, I am also a physiotherapist and use this knowledge of the moving and learning body in my teaching. I want to inspire you to find poetry and expression in your dance. I use images from nature, art and anatomy to help you to develop a personal dance. I teach weekly classes in Utrecht on Tuesdays, and irregularly classes and workshops elsewhere.
