We are thrilled to announce that this Wed we will be trying out a new venue with a spacious dance floor, on top of bringing a really renowned guest teacher from San Francisco, Keith Hennessy! NOTE: our building entrance at 282 S High Street, Sebastopol is on the *South side, facing the retaining wall. we'll also have signs up to direct you. there is lots of parking, but come a little earlier than usual so you can get acquainted and settled into this new space before joining! CLASS 7:15-8:15pm JAM 8:15-9:30pm (live music by eO) -- START TIME -- Class starts promptly at 7:15pm, please arrive by 7pm to allow time for check-in. -- CLASS DESCRIPTION -- My teaching explores the political healing potentials of dancing and CI specifically. I advocate for an expansive somatics that integrates political or eco attunement. I often integrate objects into the practice, as a way to stretch our relational attention and commitment. -- CLASS FACILITATOR -- Keith Hennessy, MFA, PhD, is a frolicker, imperfectionist, and anarchist witch working in the fields of dance, performance, activism, affordable housing, queer sexuality, political healing, and water dancing. Born in Canada, based in San Francisco/Yelamu for over 40 years, Hennessy tours internationally. Always learning through improvisation and collaboration, Hennessy’s work is interdisciplinary and experimental. Collaborations include Ishmael Houston-Jones, Sarah Crowell, Scott Wells, Jassem Hindi, Meg Stuart, And Peaches. He started dancing CI in Montréal in 1979 and has been practicing-teaching-studying-critiquing CI and improvised performance ever since, most recently at CI festivals in San Pancho, Lviv, Berkeley, Mazunte, Innsbruck and upcoming in Bacalar and Seattle. Keith co-founded the SF culture spaces 848 and CounterPulse. www.circozero.org --MUSICIAN-- eO is an innovative, genre-bending composer, producer, and sound designer, known for crafting immersive musical experiences that bridge the worlds of sound, movement, and community connection. High Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472 entrance on the *South side of building (go around building to left, when looking at the big, glass doors of the front entrance). there will be signs to help direct you. -- ENTRANCE FEE -- $20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam. -- FINANCIAL ACCESSIBILITY -- A discount of 50% is available for marginalized peoples, such as BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx and those who are experiencing financial hardship..... or pay what you can; NOTAFLOF. -- CLOTHING REQUEST -- * Bring 1 or 2 changes of clothes, if you are prone to sweating while dancing. * Wear clothing that will keep your butt, genitals and nipples covered while moving in non-linear and unpredictable ways.
