* PHOTOGRAPHY
There will be a photographer for periods of time during the class and jam (Fiona, who did this once before), so we can have beautiful, current images of our scene to use in marketing. We will have a process in place in person in order to opt out of photos being taken or shared with your face in it.
* PARKING
Peacetown concert series at Ives Park (next door) starts at 4pm, so give yourself a few extra minutes to find parking!

Solo Skills for Contact Improvisation
Contact improvisation is often thought of as a duet form, but many of its core elements—touch, gravity, momentum, presence, listening, and awareness—can be explored within our own bodies and in relationship with the space around us.
In this class, we'll investigate the rich possibilities of solo contact improvisation while also dancing with others and incorporating touch. We'll develop skills for sensing, responding, and staying connected to ourselves, both in solo movement and in shared dances.
Whether dancing alone or with a partner, cultivating solo practice can deepen responsiveness, creativity, and presence, bringing more of yourself and more possibilities into your dances.
-- CLASS FACILITATOR --
Mae Wilson has been dancing since childhood and has been a devoted student of Contact Improvisation for 20 years. She performed and taught professionally in Philadelphia for many years, where she also served as a jam facilitator and organized underscores. Mae has travelled to study intensively with many master teachers, most notably, Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, Sara Shelton Mann, Alicia Grayson, and KJ Holmes. Her work is also influenced by her training in The Feldenkrais Method. In recent years, Mae’s focus has shifted from professional dance to an exploration of wild spaces (internal and external) and an interest in spiritual growth. She has embarked on a new chapter as a mother and birthworker and brings all the joy, pain, depth, playfulness, and rigor of those endeavors into her dancing.
-- LIVE MUSICIANS --
Alex Gilman (Aletheia) is an improvisational musician from Sonoma County, CA. Using electric guitar loops, his ambient soundscapes explore timbral textures, harmonic richness, and the hidden complexity in simplicity. His music aims to evoke delight, embodied presence, and the meeting place between bliss and grief. You can find some of his recordings on his Bandcamp: https://aletheiamusicca.bandcamp.com
Maze (they/them) is a Sebastopol-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and sound healer whose art spans many genres from folk-pop to ritual ambient. Maze loves to create art that cultivates deeper self-awareness, delving into themes of nature, love, personal liberation, and the raw potency of the human experience. From harp, voice, tongue drum, ukulele and more, they weave etheric, soulful, and harmonic textures to transport listeners into transcendent and inward journeys. You can find them on IG @guidedindreams
