CLASS 7:15-8:15pm JAM 8:15-9:30pm -- LOCATION -- ***At a Private Residence in West Sebastopol for 1 night only*** Directions and parking instructions here: bit.ly/May6Jam -- START TIME -- Class starts promptly at 7:15pm, please arrive by 7pm to allow time for check-in. -- CLASS DESCRIPTION -- Only Now meeting the moment(um) In this class we will get a feeling for how gravity moves us, how we move each other and what deeper listening does for our enjoyment, research and discovery in CI. With respect for whatever Dance is unfolding, we will practice in the grace of doing/non-doing, listening/asserting, supporting/being supported, building/eroding. We will tinker with techniques and heighten our senses in the curious wilds of improvisation. -- CLASS FACILITATOR -- Melecio (Mele) is an artist who grew up in Sonoma County and now resides in Oakland. Devoted to dancemaking for the past couple decades, he has stumbled into stewarding little and big projects around the world. He serves as artistic director of BANDALOOP, fog wrangler at Fog Beast and a project based co-director with the Joe Goode Performance Group. In the late 1900’s in Sebastopol and Cotati, Contact Improvisation was his gateway drug into the dance world and he continues to be curious and engaged with the form. A lifelong learner/teacher, his approach to CI reverberates echoes of his beloved teachers - Carol Swann, Keriac, Scott Wells, Martin Keogh, Chris Aiken, Jo Kreiter, Nancy Stark Smith and so many others.
