Class: Warming Up with Gravity and Each Other with Kevin Dockery + Jam - May 15th

~May 15th ~ CLASS 6-7:30pm JAM 7:30-9pm -- START TIME -- Class starts promptly at 6pm, so please arrive before to allow time for check-in. -- ENTRANCE FEE -- $20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam. -- ACCESSIBILITY -- A discount of 50% is available for marginalized peoples, such as BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx and those who are experiencing financial hardship..... or pay what you can; NOTAFLOF. CLASS DESCRIPTION Warming Up with Gravity and Each Other w/ Kevin Dockery In this prejam we will start with solo explorations of how it feels to be resting bodies/selves in gravity on the floor. As we get a sense of where the floor is we will come to our feet, see each other, and feel each others structures to find out how different bodies/selves feel in their relationship to being in gravity. As we start to feel present to ourselves, in relationship to gravity, and with each other we will have some fun finding safe pathways across, around, and with each others weight as we move into open dancing! ACCESSIBILITY Being in the upstairs dance loft at Soft Medicine, we want to let folks know there is also an elevator at the back of the building, for anyone who needs that to get to the 2nd floor (though it involves considerably more walking). This is an indoor venue. Masks are optional. Anyone under age 18 is asked to attend with a guardian, and/or email us first to discuss. CLOTHING REQUEST If you are prone to saturating your clothes with sweat while dancing, please bring 1 or 2 changes of clothes - for the consideration of others. Please don't wear strong fragrances. MUSIC Sometimes the jam will have some pre-recorded music, sometimes we'll make sounds ourselves and some of the time it will be silent. Classically, CI has been done in total silence, and even when there is music, the emphasis is not on how it moves us. Know of someone proficient in improvising music?
