ĐÅR Shares...
For this dance, we call in awareness to what we'd like to overcome, cultivating the courage to do so. We encourage ourselves and those around us to release all that does not serve us, and break through any obstacle that may limit us.
ĐÅR is an intuitive and diverse ecstatic dance DJ, bringing immersive sounds from around the globe selected to inspire people to access their unique ways across various dance floors. Currently living and creating in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, he is coming to Eugene to share sounds and rhythms from the land of the volcanos. Dar Sernoff is the core curator behind Living Prism & InSpirit events.

Somatic Lab w/ Paul:
Improvisation Techniques
What, really, techniques for improvisation?! I'm thinking improv is anything all the time so...
How these two words fit together (in this case) is that; when we share intention to express ourselves as dancers, we are not completely blank slates in a completely neutral space where anything's possible. Well sure why not say anything's possible, but truly we do make agreements around how we want to relate together (culture), consciously or unconsciously, and we are living within our human-like bodies and constrained by common influences like gravity, breath, momentum... (nature).
Technique then, is really here for clarifying:
• The agreements between us to maximize creative freedom while honoring interests of physical and emotional safety...
• The understandings we have of the physics and biology of being embodied...
• What we bring to the dance floor and to our fellow dancers of our lived experiences that shape our engagements and contribute to the inventories of movements that we have to draw upon; whether in our solo space or in collaboration with others.
•• Technique reveals, expands and refines the possibilities that we have to choose from.
•• Improv is about choosing, at any given moment, where to go, with spontaneity, with what we've got to work with.
Come enjoy some open floor explorations, bring a friend you want to work with, or you can receive to guidance from me. The techniques we employ to organize ourselves for this Sunday's lab are, well, a bit improvisational.
The Somatic Lab: Is a space in time intended to support, inspire and refine our dance, to share with each other our observations, experiences, creativity, and ways of learning. This time also serves to tune the environment for the dance that follows.

Consent and Wristbands:
We humbly ask that everyone continuously cultivate an atmosphere of consent, where our awareness of others' experiences inform how we practice our dance, and how we make our ways through the world. This means getting clear verbal or non-verbal yes's or no's from those we approach. If "yes", we are always sensitive to changes and endings. If "no", we acknowledge the clarity with grace and appreciation.
We offer Red, Yellow & Green wristbands at the door for those wishing to clearly, visually indicate level of interest in interacting. Wearing them is not required but please do if so inspired.
More in the opening circle on how we work creatively and collaboratively to create a dance experience expressing respect and overall awesomeness towards all; please be present and participatory.
