About this Event
Students will learn the basics of leading and following, connection, pulse and posture of Collegiate Shag basics. Students will learn Glide Basic and Step Kick Basic footwork in closed, side by side, and open position.
Shag was derived from the “Flea Hop”, an African-American dance that spread across the country through Vaudeville. Shag had its heyday in the 1930th, and there were many different types of shag. Most of what we will be learning will be double shag. Collegiate, simply means energetic or in the “college style”. Originally Collegiate Shag was a Jazz Dance, but you can dance it to many other upbeat styles of music.
This class is beginner, friendly, however intermediate dancers will be challenged by new content.
