About this Event
As we hold on to the wonderful last warm days of the fleeting New England summer, the crisp nights mean that Halloween is around the corner. And a great lead-in to that will be the Compaq Big Band returning to the campus of the University of New Hampshire for the UNH Hepcats Swing Club’s ‘Swing Dance Spooktacular’ Saturday October 26th. This terrific dance is FREE to UNH students, and just $10 for everyone else - free refreshments for all!
There’s a beginner lesson from 7:00pm-8:00pm, and the band plays 8:00pm-10:30pm. The venue is the Strafford Room in the Memorial Union Building (MUB) located at 83 Main Street in Durham. Dancers of all abilities are welcome, and the public is encouraged to attend. It’s always a great mix of singles, couples, and groups!
Wowing the crowd on vocals will be Alexandra Grace Music, channeling Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Schuur, Joanie Somers, Natalie Cole, and others, plus swingin’ instrumentals.
On the gig that night will be regulars John Finocchiaro, Scott Taylor, Kurt Thaller, Thomas Borning, Jay Souweine, Bruce D. McLeod, Robert Cary, Rick A. Hansen, Dennis Cecere, Dave King, Gil Bristol, Jeff Hagan, plus alum Harry McCoy and super-subs Adam Claussen, Rob Daisy, Ernie Baraiolo, Molly Rose, AND Richie Thaller.
