🍃 Falling into Flight : Retraite de danse contact avec Neva Cockrell à Val David, Qc (English Below) 🍂 Suite au grand succès de notre retraite «Éclosion» réalisée en avril dernier, nous avons décidé de récidiver en vous offrant «Falling into Flight» ou «Tomber en vol»; une retraite de Danse Contact Impro de trois jours dans un endroit magnifique en nature. 🍁 Notre intention est de cocréer un petit cocon de 28 personnes, où nous pourrions vivre une expérience immersive de communauté et acquérir de nouvelles compétences en Contact Impro. 🕺 Cette fois nous aurons la chance d’accueillir Neva Cockrell comme enseignante invitée. Elle nous proposera des thèmes comme : Les portés et les chutes, la connexion au sol, l’assouplissement du système nerveux et l’écoute corporelle sous plusieurs angles. 🌀 Au cours de notre week-end, nous explorerons comment s’enraciner vers le bas peut conduire à danser avec légèreté, et comment s’élever vers le haut peut conduire à une danse ancrée. Nous explorerons cette pratique en solo et en partenariat, avec la possibilité d'essayer les portés, si cela convient à votre corps. 𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒆 : Neva Cockrell (elle/elle) est une danseuse professionnelle et une artiste interdisciplinaire. Elle a dansé avec Pilobolus de 2016 à 2019 en tournée en Allemagne, en Suisse, en Autriche, en Chine, au Mexique, en Israël, à Dubaï et aux États-Unis. Elle est également scénariste/réalisatrice/chorégraphe qui utilise la danse-théâtre comme outil de changement social. En 2010, elle a cofondé Loom Ensemble, qui a effectué une tournée aux États-Unis, en Europe et aux Émirats arabes unis, et a récemment présenté une pièce sur la justice climatique dans le nord-est des États-Unis en 2023. Elle est la fondatrice et directrice de WildHeart : Center for Performance and Embodiment. Pratique dans la Hudson Valley NY, où elle vit, travaille et crée avec sa famille choisie et biologique. Elle danse le Contact Improvisation depuis qu'elle a découvert cette forme à l'Oberlin College en 2009. Elle a ensuite déménagé à New York où elle a dansé le CI plusieurs soirs par semaine pendant 5 ans et a eu l'opportunité d'étudier avec des professeurs incroyables lorsqu'ils traversaient la ville. Elle a eu le grand plaisir de pratiquer le CI dans de nombreux pays et trouve que c’est une belle façon de connecter entre les cultures. Elle aime la forme pour son aspect physique, ses compétences relationnelles, sa connectivité, sa concentration sur les limites et son plaisir ! C’est devenu un chemin de vie et une pratique, et elle est honorée de le partager avec les autres. Elle enseigne le CI depuis 2014 dans des villes du monde entier, dirige régulièrement des retraites de CI à WildHeart et a récemment animé le Jam du nouvel an à Earthdance. Coanimé par Taël Raut et Shanthi Minor Photo CI par [email protected] Bannière graphique par Pomme Gabrielle 💖 🍃 Falling into Flight : a Contact improvisation retreat with Neva Cockrell in Val David, Qc 🍂 Following the success of our "Éclosion" retreat last April, we're inspired to offer "Falling into Flight", a three-day Contact Improvisation dance retreat in a beautiful natural setting! 🍁 Our intention is to cocreate a cocoon of 28 people, where we can live an immersive community experience and learn new CI skills. 🕺 This time we're excited and honoured to welcome Neva Cockrell from New York as our guest teacher. Neva will engage us in exploring themes of flying and falling – with optional actual flying and falling :). We’ll spend luxurious time dancing close to the floor, allowing the body and nervous system to soften as we connect with each other and the earth. We’ll then take this softened state upward, practicing skills to both underdance and overdance safely and with pleasure – moving up and down, into and out of the floor. During our weekend, we’ll explore how rooting downward can lead to dancing with lightness, and how reaching upward can lead to grounded dancing. We will explore this solo and while partnering, with the opportunity to try lifting if it suits your body. These practices will support CI dancing as well as inhabiting one’s body with ease and grace in daily life. Over the course of the weekend we will also study sharing weight as we move through space, we will practice consent and boundaries as we connect with each other, we will dance wildly and quietly, and listen to the guidance of our bodies. Our intention is to hold a somatically respectful container that allows space for each body to move and be in the way it prefers. This will look different for each person. Some may need more time to rest and move slowly, while others may want to dance with high energy and practice new skills. There will be time and space for the whole spectrum of expressions. 🌀 This will be a delicious way to connect with ourselves, our dancing, and with others. 𝑩𝒊𝒐 : Neva Cockrell (she/her) is a professional dancer and interdisciplinary artist. She danced with Pilobolus from 2016-2019 touring to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, China, Mexico, Israel, Dubai, and within the US. She is also a writer/director/choreographer who uses dance-theater as a tool for social change. In 2010 she co-founded Loom Ensemble, which has toured across the US, Europe, and UAE, most recently touring a piece about Climate Justice across the northeastern US in 2023. She is the founder and director of WildHeart: Center for Performance and Embodiment Practice in the Hudson Valley NY, where she lives, works, and creates with her chosen and biological family. She has been dancing Contact Improvisation since discovering the form at Oberlin College in 2009. She then moved to NYC where she danced CI multiple nights a week for 5 years, and had the opportunity to study with incredible teachers as they came through the city. She has had the great pleasure of practicing CI in many countries, and finds it a beautiful way to connect across cultures. She loves the form for its physicality, relational skills, connectivity, focus on boundaries, and fun! It has become a life path and practice, and she is honored to share it with others. She has been teaching CI since 2014 in cities across the world, she leads CI retreats regularly at WildHeart, and recently facilitated the New Year’s Eve Jam at Earthdance.
