Contact - A Contemporary Breaking Experience

Yo COLORADO MOVERS! I'm heading to Mexico for an extended period of time in December, and I would LOVE to share with all of you one last time before I jet! I LOVE what the School Yard has to offer and want to give some good energy and enthusiasm to this new incredible space! We're going to be playing with lots of partner things, floor things and contact improv/technique so come through and get it IN! The purpose of this workshop is to give insights into new ways of thinking about your movement using the lenses of contemporary and breaking. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A BREAKER OR CONTEMPORARY DANCER TO PLAY. It will focus on making the technical aspects of breaking accessible to other types of movers, and helping artists fit these techniques into the energy tempo and “presence” of their own movement. The class will focus mainly on contact and moving with other bodies. We will spend the majority of class on improv concepts and techniques, and end with a small piece of partner based choreography as a sample of application. Cost: $12 individual, $10 each with a partner Alex Milewski is a dancer and educator based in Boulder Colorado. His dance style is rooted in BBoying, Martial Arts, Contemporary and House Dance. Alex’s artistic mission as a teacher is to lead students through new movements and emotions to inspire creativity.
