Throughout periods of contemplation (small intimate dances) and contact-improvisation, we will visit and discover the places where we connect with ourselves and with each other. ✨Tuesday, October 28 – Eryn Dace Trudell: Releasing into Connection This class weaves the gentle, transformative principles of Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) with the dynamic, responsive practice of Contact Improvisation (CI). Through guided movement, imagery, and hands-on partner work, we invite the body to let go of unnecessary tension, awaken sensory perception, and access effortless alignment and flow. Beginning with SRT-inspired explorations, participants will soften habitual holding patterns, expand their kinesthetic awareness, and cultivate a heightened sense of listening—both inwardly and outwardly. These embodied discoveries naturally transition into the shared, improvisational space of CI, where dancers engage in weight-sharing, rolling points of contact, and spontaneous co-creation. This class emphasizes curiosity, presence, and supportive connection. Movers of all levels are welcome; no prior experience in SRT or CI is required. Bring comfortable clothing and a willingness to explore. ✨Wednesday, October 29 – Sylvia Berlin: The Skin as Gateway What if everything began with the skin? Sensitive surface, living boundary, the skin both separates and connects. It is through the skin that we touch, that we listen, that we enter into relationship. In this Contact Improvisation workshop, we will explore the skin as a starting point for movement — a gateway toward the other, toward oneself, and toward shared dance. ✨Thursday, October 30 – Saule & Dö: In Praise of Going Slow A Contact Improvisation workshop highlighting the subtlety of slow movement, allowing participants to fully experience the depth of connection and the unfolding of improvisation. It includes moments of massage to support relaxation and to gently explore touch. An invitation to cultivate presence and fluidity in motion within a space of attentive listening and trust. ✨Friday, October 31 – Vincent-Nicolas Provencher : Joint Mobility This class explores body mobility through joint awareness, core engagement, and the relationship between the head and the coccyx. Participants are invited to refine their bodily perception and develop new movement patterns. Abdominal work, inspired by the image of the “central puppeteer,” prepares the body for greater fluidity and stability. A series of guided explorations then emphasizes opposition work, listening, and partner sensitivity. 🌀BIOS 🌀Nina Galea is a teacher, dancer and choreographer. It was in 1982, in Berlin, that I discovered Contact Improvisation Dance. Since then, I have pursued parallel studies in dance improvisation and in different somatic and energetic approaches in Europe and the United States. In 1988, I moved to Montreal where I continued to explore Contact Improvisation (CI) in Andrew Harwood’s classes. For several years, I also taught CI Dance and was part of the group that initiated the very first International Jam in Montreal. My encounter with Authentic Movement, which took place in 1987 in the United States, directed my interest toward the therapeutic effect of movement, and I devoted several years to deepening this aspect. Now, as I approach sixty, my passion for CI Dance is resurfacing; its playful, sensitive, and non-hierarchical nature touches me on a different level than it did 30 years ago. Recently, I have resumed teaching CI Dance with gratitude and curiosity. 🌀Saule & Dö Saule's experience: training in shiatsu, Californian, cranial massage, etc. Has practiced contact improvisation regularly since 2017 and adds nuances of qigong and tai chi to her workshops. In 2019, he co-founded CIL (Contact Impro Lanaudière) and, in 2021, Cent méandres - Arts & découvertes. He is also involved as a coordinator for ACI (Association Contact Impro).
