About this Event
Trust: Leaning Into The Dance with Cyrus Khambatta
Learning to Trust is one of life's most difficult tasks (Isaac Watts).
What does it mean or look like to trust oneself in every situation or dance? Sometimes you want to just walk away. And that is always an option, but what if you would like all of yourself to be present, not to exclude any part of yourself while dancing.
This workshop will address trust, not what my partner needs to give me so that I can trust, but what I, as the purveyor and creator of my world, need to trust myself in every dance, every move, every action. The work I have developed speaks to this.
Trust is a combination of having certain skills, and having the freedom to accept what one is feeling (without hiding) and bring it into the dance. Discounting a part of oneself (inner thoughts, feelings, reflections, etc) turns off the authenticity, the engagement with oneself. Yet, we need to trust that it will all work out.
This workshop is intuitive and self-affirming, I would also most say “easy” and allows incredible physical AND emotional range. The exercises are built on a combination of observation (both internal and external) and the dynamics of physical sensation which provide access to the architecture of our own and others’ bodies instinctively.
I am also interested to hear and address a few situations that people have experienced when they have shut off and address these in the workshop – so bring your experiences.
