Contact Improv Jam w LIVE Music

Join us to participate in contact improvisation dance during a special night accompanied by live music. This Sunday, we are proud to welcome violist Alana (bio at bottom) to the Santa Monica Contact Improv jam to weave a musical fabric into the motion of our dance... For this special jam, the hours will be from 6:30 - 10:00pm, At Dance Home in Santa Monica. For more info visit www.contactimprovla.com Ilana Summers is a classically trained violinist/violist/vocalist from Los Angeles, California. She picked up the violin at the ripe old age of seven and was consumed for the next decade by classical music traditions. In 2007, now “technically” proficient, Ilana was invited to come play with the local band, Disgized es Fog, and the floodgates to the world of jam-banding and improvisatory magic peeled open right before her ears. Ilana has since been involved with multiple musical projects including singing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and playing violin with The Toledo Show, SIMA, Leopold Nunan and Dharma Kaya. She also frequently participates in a Tuesday night Jam Band residency at the Salvage Bar. Currently, Ilana’s musical focus revolves around a passion project exploring the relationship between stringed instruments and the human voice. Ilana holds a BM in both Music Education and Vocal Performance from Cal State Long Beach (2012) and maintains a small studio of voice students with an exploratory approach designed to help students understand and harness the power of their own unique instrument.
