Contact Improvisation Fusion Flow Experience

Samuel Samways is coming to Sacramento! As we build our Contact Improvisation community inside the Firehouse 5, a place that holds a lot of Fusion history, this will be a container where we'll practice with elements from both modalities. Which happens to be Samuel's specialty! (and what he does best.) After several years researching and exploring the intersections of not only Contact Improvisation, but also capoeira, floorwork, acrobatics, contemporary dance and Latin American social dances (such as Brazilian Zouk, Tango, Forró and Samba de Gafieira), Samuel has developed a unique approach to bridge these movement languages. This will be a very special treat! What to expect A 2-hour immersive workshop exploring Contact Improvisation tools that are useful to partner dance and partner dance skills we can use at Contact Improvisation contexts. A 2-hour focused dance jam afterward, with a fusion-inspired music landscape, a curated container to integrate, experiment, play and express ourselves wile refining our listening skills and exercising the ability remain present.
