DESCRIPTION:
A carnal impulse to feel the wind instead of clothing
Fingers digging into raw smells beneath the moss Impermanence-revealing in fir needle skin impirnts
We will be bonding, dancing and insighting in a place with relatively little human impact. Somatic diologues, tactile interspecies conversations, smelling stillness, and the unique sensitivity of the contact body acquinting with other than human and human beings. We will savour the interconnectedness
We will explore:
- Interacting with other than human beings
- Allowing elements, fauna and creatures get aquinted with us
- Letting the rocks, leafs and spider cells in us dance with the sand, bark and deer ears in other humans
BIO:
Martin Keogh has taught and performed contact improvisation on six continents over three decades. For his contribution to the development of the form he is a Fulbright Senior Specialist and listed in Who's Who in the World. Martin spent time traveling to monasteries in Japan and Korea and was the director of the Empty Gate Zen Center in Berkeley before discovering the world of dance. He is the author of four books including the acclaimed: Hope Beneath Our Feet: Restoring Our Place in the Natural World.
