Contact Improvisation Technical workshop The Body That Listens A technical workshop for contact improvisers of all levels, offering material that can support both experienced practitioners and motivated beginners. This workshop explores principles that support greater freedom, spontaneity, and safety in improvisation. Each day builds upon the material of the previous one, gradually expanding our possibilities for movement and interaction. A special focus will be placed on the journey from falling to flying. Falling often arrives unexpectedly; together we will develop the skills to move confidently and safely within the unknown, finding stability inside instability. Rather than stopping a fall, we will learn to use its momentum to continue moving. Flying will emerge as a natural outcome of weight-sharing in dynamic lifts. To support this exploration, we will cultivate the connection between hands and feet through the center, experience the body as an integrated whole, and develop an awareness that includes ourselves, our partners, and the surrounding space simultaneously. We will also investigate the idea of a shared body — the moment when two people and the space between them become a single unfolding movement process. The workshop follows a progressive structure, with each session building on the previous one. While attending the full workshop offers the richest experience, it is also possible to join for the first two days only.
