Perfect for beginners or anyone curious to try CI. We’ll begin with a short yoga warm-up before exploring the fundamentals of CI through simple drills, touch, and weight-sharing exercises. Come with an open mind and discover how movement, connection, and play can unfold through contact. 🌀 2 – 5PM | 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗖𝗜 & 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗜 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝘇𝗲-𝗪𝗲𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗴 (Workshop Session #2) How do we practice CI as a performative act? This workshop explores the dance of bone, flesh, skin, and the field of trust that arises between movers and audience. Together, we inquire into the relationality of improvisation—being danced by space, being witnessed, and engaging spectators not as passive observers but as active participants. Join us in opening questions about the relevance of CI in the context of performance. 🤝5 – 7PM | 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗜 𝗝𝗮𝗺 (𝗔) An open, improvisational dance space where anyone can join to move, play, and explore Contact Improvisation together. It’s informal, free-flowing, and all about shared practice and connection. 🔍8 – 10PM | 𝗖𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗦𝗗) & 𝗢𝗻𝗴 This is a space to dive deeper into the form — to play with ideas, test movement questions, and explore specific principles together. Participants shape the session, while facilitators guide rather than teach — a shared playground for movement research. __________________________________________________ 📅𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃 🌀9AM – 12PM | 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗴 (Workshop Session #3) How can blindness and physical limitation shape the space of dance? This workshop explores the aesthetics of diversity through CI, where dance can be seen, heard, expressed, and shared across multiple dimensions of perception. Guided by the experience of a blind dancer sharing their techniques, participants are invited to experiment with new ways of sensing, moving, and relating. Together, we discover how difference can open a richer field of trust, sensitivity, and imagination. 🌀2 – 5PM | 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁?: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗝𝗶𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗮𝗼 (Workshop Session #4) Contact Improvisation is famously defined by its physical, weight-sharing touch. But is the essence of the form truly contained only in the moment of skin-to-skin connection? This workshop playfully dismantles this assumption, inviting dancers to explore the full spectrum of "contact," from the physical to the perceptual. We will embark on a journey that expands the very definition of the practice. We begin by grounding ourselves in the foundational principles of shared weight, touch, and momentum, to establish a common physical language. But then, we will pull apart. We will investigate the rich, often overlooked, world of the dis-connect. 🤝5 – 7PM | 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗜 𝗝𝗮𝗺 (𝗕) An open, improvisational dance space where anyone can join to move, play, and explore Contact Improvisation together. It’s about being witnessed, engaging spectators as active participants, and creating a shared space.
