Contact-Tango Jam and (Free) Workshop

*** What's danced? - Tango with elements from Contact-Improvisation - Contact-Improvisation with elements from Tango - Just Tango... - ...or just Contact-Improvisation. - Tango or Contact-Improvisation with elements from any movement art, including but not limited by physical theater, martial arts, other dance forms. In other words, you're welcome to stay within, out of, or just on the lines as much as you (and your dance partner) like. All levels and areas of experience are welcome. Coming with a partner is not necessary. *** Details Location: WG-Terrein, Ketelhuisplein 47, 1054RD Amsterdam (ring: "Grote Zaal"). Jam: €5,- *** Workshop: "Staying With" by Massimiliano Mirra Through drills based on simple walking, we'll explore a way of working on and toward connection—connection with our dance partner, connection with ourselves, and most interestingly how those two kinds of connection are (pardon the pun) connected with each other. We'll start at 17:30 sharp so please arrive 10-15 minutes earlier. Wear comfortable clothes, socks, or shoes that allow the sole of the foot to feel the ground (no heels). Registration and partner not needed. About Massimiliano: I approach dancing the way I used to approach any toy as a kid: look at it from many angles, play with it, take it apart, look at it from the inside, put the pieces back together. Not necessarily in the same order. Asking plenty of questions in the process. After a sterile encounter with "traditional" Tango in 2008, I returned to it through to the language and freedom of Contact-Improvisation and the guidance of teachers like Tobias Funke, Steffi Adler, Markus Hoft, and Javier Cura. I was instantly charmed by the play between the two dance forms, and nowadays I organize a monthly Contact-Tango get-together in Amsterdam where hopefully others can experience the same.
