About this Event

They're back! Always a crowd favorite! Come on down to the best dance floor in California for the Crown City Bombers! Come on down to the Carrillo Ballroom for a night of dancing! At this dance, we will be honoring the memory of Santa Barbara dancer Rick Harmon, who sadly passed away from cancer this month. Rick was a steady presence in our dance community, teaching, dancing, encouraging, and being a friend. He taught the beginning lesson for many years right here at the Friday Night Dances, and often taught classes with Jolene Warren when Sylvia was traveling. We will miss him and will always fondly remember him. Throughout the evening we will have a video slide show of memories of Rick. If you have photos, please email us and we will include them. In addition, we will collect donations for Santa Barbara cat rescue ASAP Cats in Rick's memory. Rick was a dedicated volunteer with ASAP for many years. Come at 7:30 for a lesson. Lessons are always included in the price of admission to the dance! * Level 1: Jolene Warren will be teaching beginning swing dance steps. * Level 2: Our own Lindsey Kasehagen will team with Rob Bethlenfalvay from Lompoc to teach (or brush up!) 8-count swing-outs. The band starts at 8:30pm. 8:30 - 11:30: Live music from The Crown City Bombers Still only $20 (cash only) at the door $10 youth age 13 and under (must be accompanied by an adult) Ask us about group rates! As always, no partner necessary, and no special dress is required. Masking is recommended. BIO: The Crown City Bombers have their roots firmly planted in rockabilly, country, and 50's and early 60's R&B - the primary influence in all of their original songs. In a relatively short period of time "CCB" has built a dedicated legion of fans in the Southern California root and rockabilly scene; tearing it up at such venues as The Derby, Blue Cafe, The Purple Orchid, and numerous car shows including the Long Beach Car Club and Rascals in San Pedro. The band has opened for many headline acts including Lee Rocker of Stray Cats, James Intveld, Big Sandy, Hot Rod Lincoln and Wanda Jackson and are a regular presence at the annual Viva Las Vegas weekend festival. Upcoming Dances: Friday, October 20 – Rio Rob and the Revolvers Friday, November 17 – San Lyon Friday, December 8 – Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five feat. Hilary Alexander
