CSDS August 17th Dance

Instructor: Emma Bramer DJ: Kristin Wenger Location: Ivy Creek United Methodist Church (674 Woodlands Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22901) Time: 7-10:30 pm (please note new hours) - Lesson: 7-8 pm (included in admission) - Dance: 8-10:30 pm Style: West Coast Swing Level: Intermediate Lesson: How to put some Lindy in your WCS step! Emma will be teaching an intermediate class on solo jazz movements from Lindy Hop to put into your WCS partner dancing. You should know how to do a sugar push and a side pass in order to do this lesson. Lindy Hop was created in Harlem, NY by black dancers and evolved into other dances, including WCS, over time as it became more widespread. Though the two dances look very different and often are danced to very different music, they share a lot of DNA that makes crossing over from one dance to the other very possible. As a crossover dancer and organizer for the local Lindy Hop scene, Emma loves sharing the roots of swing dancing with other dancers. Expect to learn some classic jazz moves like swivels, the Shorty George, Suzy Q’s, Apple Jacks, and more!
