The passionate and joyful Turkish tango music will be played live to invite tango dancers for the first time! It is an experience not to be missed! The Turkish Tango Music came to life 1928 with "Mazi", known as the first turkish Tango song. Being the pop music of the newly founded Turkey from the 30's till 60's, the turkish tango music will be brought to the dancers live at the central station of Berlin.
"Dilek and Tango Viento" is a Turkish tango band from Berlin. The members of the band found each other In 2015 in Berlin with the wish to share their love to the ninetyone years old turkish tango with international audiences. Next to cello, bass and accordeon they use the turkish string instrument kanun and G clarinet to bring the authentic flair into their music. The band is active in Berlin introducing the turkish tango to their listeners.
DJ Gosto is resident DJ at Milonga Popular Candle Floor in Berlin. With his wide spectrum of tracks from all over the globe he inspires the dancers to share & express. In Ronda Alla Turca, he will bring you to a musical journey where oriental melodies mixed with liquid tones.
Dilara and Gökce are active tango dancers and teachers in Berlin. They will be performing a dance show in their unique way and their own interpretation of the Turkish tango.
The piano and vocal duo of Utku Yurttas and Pinar Tatlikazan will be playing the modern Turkish tango and valse music. The jazz musicians from Turkey are living in Berlin and have worked together in different projects in the last years. Utku's experience playing to modern dancers and Pinar being a tango dancer herself brought this duo to play the turkish tango on their own terms.
Contemporary Tango Festival is dedicated to the global variety of Tango Argentino and the impact of this dance on all the international musicians, dancers, artists, performers who live and work in Berlin.
You are also invited just to watch and enjoy the scene as a spectator.
