Cuban Valentine's be ready, for a party dedicated to LOVE, of dancing, live music and friendship, dashed with lime and Havana Club Join us for an 11 hour Valentine's Cuban Carnival with live music, dance workshops and authentic Cuban food. INCLUDES *Live Music by Rene Alvarez & Cuban Combination * DJ's Javier La Maquina De Cuba will play the best music from Salsa, Bachata, Timba, Merengue *Key2Cuba in the house infusing more romance, sensuality and spice into your Salsa dancing through the Gods / Orishas of love. You will be moved ! TIMINGS 12:00pm to 1:00pm Documentary with Giles Peterson. Havana Club Rumba sessions. LA CLAVE. Feature length documentary by Charlie Inman explores the roots of Rumba. Starring many of the dancers and musicians from Raices Profundas including Ildolida, Juan Carlos, Odelkis, and many more of the Key2Cuba team in Havana. 1pm -2 pm Kerry Ribchester teaching a beginners Cuban Salsa class . Pay just £5 for two. 2pm - 3pm Intermediate / Advanced Partner styling class with the Cuban God's of love, enhancing your styling and partner connection. 3pm -4pm Rumba - Gua guanco with styling inspired by Ochun Y Chango, the gods of love. TEACHERS Dance Classes with Key2Cuba's Kerry Ribchester & top Male Cuban dance Master Homero Gonzales. KEY2CUBA's award winning director has been teaching Cuban dance, leading dance holiday's to Cuba and choreographing / directing videos with Cuba's top A list bands such as Alexander Abreu, Los Van Van and Maykel Blanco for the past 19 years. Having taken literally thousands of students to study in Cuba, many of her clan will be joining us from all over the globe for their Valentines reunion. The joint Key2Cuba Christmas party with Sambrosa Noda and Javier was a total smash with over 300 of us rocking Shoreditch ! If you have never done a class with Kerry before you will be amazed at how confident , relaxed and inspired you will feel. Homero Gonzales Homero trained at the Escuela De Arte de la Provincia de Havana. He began his professional dancing career with the Carnival Group Charanga De Bejucal and subsequently the most famous carnival group in Cuba, the Guaracheros De Regla, directed by Umberto Medina. In the 1980's he developed into cabaret work, dancing with some of the best companies in Cuba, including Antonio Maria Romeo, Los Kelellas, and Empresa Turarte, working in the Playas Del Este and Playa Giron. He also directed a cabaret at the invitation of the Canadian Tourist Board, 'Los T con E'. n 1987 Homero joined Teatro America for a Cuban television programme aimed at bringing the rich cultural inheritance of dance rhythms to ordinary Cuban people; the programme, directed by Gilberto Bosa and Guanarie Almuedo, provided a weekly presentation of various aspects of Cuban dance i.e. Afro Cuban, rumba, Cuban popular dance, ballet and contemporary. Homero specialised in the Rumba and Afro Cuban presentations. In 1990 Homero became choreographer to the Benny Moré Cabaret, working with Feliz Mauricio and Gilberto Bosa. From 1989 to 1993 he danced with the internationally acclaimed Cabaret Tropicana. In 1993 he became Director of Cabaret Groups working at the Playas Del Este, including 'Cabaret Marazul', 'Cabaret Las Terrazas', 'Cabaret Megano', and at the Hotel Itabo. Also in 1993 he was invited to accompany Silvia Pena, Tropicana singer soloist, in a promotional tour to Santiago De Chile, sponsored by Cubana Aviacion. Whilst pursuing his cabaret work Homero retained his involvement in Afro Cuban and traditional dance, and worked with many leading Rumba groups, including Papo Angarica, Luis Chacon, Grupo De Clave y Guaguanco, Grupo De Chabalonga, Grupo De Ardo, amongst others. 4:00pm - 6:00pm DJ Javier La Rosa "La Maquina De Cuba" 6:00pm to 6:45pm 8:30pm to 9:45pm Rene Alvarez & His Cuban Combination. As the name implies, it’s a Cuban Combination of some of the biggest artistic talents in the UK, with various formats, dancers and DJs offering a wide musical variety: from danzon and traditional Cuban son to salsa and merengue styles, including funk and R&B fusion. We’re sure that Cuban Combination is exactly what you need to liven yourself up! 7:30pm- DJ Javier "La Maquina De Cuba” INVESTMENT CLUB - only £3 entry CLASSES - £7 for one class £10 for two classes.
