About this Event

Instructor: Anara Frank Anara entered the world of Latin Dance while living in Havana in her teens. Now, a dancer & coach with over 25 years experience in the industry, Anara is passionate about helping Latin dancers learn more about the Cuban roots present in so many of the styles we do today, as well as encouraging people to train directly with Cuban masters, both virtually and in person. Previously based in Boston, Anara now travels helping dancers everywhere achieve their goals—by connecting more deeply to the music and the history, and transforming their movement through the detailed breakdowns, exercises and drills she is known for! What Is Cuban Fusion? We use the words “Cuban Fusion” to refer to the addition of traditional Cuban elements to other styles of dance. From rumba to son, and from orishas to pilón, dancers across the Latin Dance spectrum are transforming their movement through learning a taste of these beloved older styles and bringing new life to their routines and social dancing! In this unique workshop Anara will also provide you with exercises for each part of your body, helping you flow in a natural and eye-catching way. From rotations & undulations to “mueyeo & makuta” you will learn how to combine these movements into a variety of styles (on1, on2, bachata, casino, etc), and you will learn the stories & secrets behind the steps, as well as innovative yet respectful ways to add them to your repertoire. You will leave the workshop with new ideas for the dance floor and new things to work on at home to keep building your dancer body in 2023! Online banking often temporarily blocks payments that have the name of that country in them… although it is simply the name of the style of dance, the trackers don’t know that and they pick the word up automatically.
