CubanFusion's Big 12th Birthday Bash feat Cuban Duo Madera Fina

Twelve years ago plus 2 days Rafael Ferrer Noel arrived in New Zealand and CubanFusion - Wellington's Cuban Salsa Specialists was born. Coincidentally 10 October also Cuban Independance Day (a.k.a. El Dia del Grito del Yara)* - on this day in 1868, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, "Father of the Homeland", gave freedom to his slaves and started the independence war against the Spanish colonial power, which led to the Ten Years' War - so lots to celebrate and commemorate! A BIG GRACIAS to our teachers and assistants (Rogelio Enrique Carles-Rosas, Nina Baranenko, Michelle Loveridge and Jenny Beech), and all our students, dancers and supporters over the years. Without you we would not exist! Please join us this Sunday to celebrate 12 years of fun and fiestas, musica and dancing a lo Cubano. We look forward to seeing old and not so old friends and students and followers there. The Cross has kindly given us the Guest Room that backs on to and opens out on to the dance floor so there'll be plenty of space to spreadout, chill out and catch up off the dance floor while still being in range of all the action, which includes the usual fun follow me class at 6.30 pm and our very special guests Cuban Duo Madera Fina at 7pm featuring Roberto Rodriguez Bofill on guitar and vocals and Rafael Ferrer Noel on bongo and vocals, followed by DJ Timba Cubana (Rafa). Here's how the night usually go: - 5.30pm Set-Up/Pre-Session Meet-Up - 6.00pm Party begins - 6.30pm Fun Salsa intro class with Rafael - 9.00pm Home-time! Pre-Session Meet-Up This is a great opportunity to catch up, have something to eat and meet people from the various Meet-Up groups plus our "regulars" who come along to this event before the night gets started.
