So beschreibt sich Johnson Mayet: “I come from Santiago de Cuba, from the heart of the Cuban folklore dances I am dedicated to since my childhood. Nowadays I am a professional dancer and teacher of different dancing genres – Rumba, Afro-Cuban Folklore, Son, but also Salsa with Rumba, Salsa with Afro, Cha-cha-cha, Merengue and others. Deep feeling and a love for dance is a certainty for a good dancer. Dancing, that's life. The man sings and dances for the same reason he lives. Movements in Cuban folklore dance have meaning and beauty if one understands they reflect those of life, such as clearing weeds, cutting cane with a machete ... If I had not been a dancer, well, I think I would have been.... a dancer. When I dance, I feel it is ... I dance because ... I love it. I do not dance to shine, or to prove that I dance better or so and so ... I dance because I love to dance, because I feel, and this is something that ... that allows me to forget the world. To me it is fun and quiet and I feel the time come when I am at peace with myself. At that moment, I offer a pleasure to myself. It is primarily myself who enjoys my dance ... I feel the urge to dance and when I hear music I dance - that's all I feel. ... I dance and that's it. And I'm in love with the Rumba. I am a Rumbero at Heart!
