Día de los Muertos - Salsa Party with Salsabrosos

RCR hosts a Cuban Dance Party every 1st Saturday of the month at the LMDC in Oakland. This month we are excited to celebrate the Día de los Muertos with three workshops, live music by Salsabrosos, and recorded music with DJ Ritmo. At 5:00pm, Ryan’s listening class will be devoted to the clave — son vs. rumba, 2:3 vs. 3:2, physicalizing and vocalizing all variations of the clave. Then at 6:15pm Or will offer a Rueda Mixta class, a structure where alternating couples dance the default “pa’ dentro” configuration, but also facing outwards “pa’fuera”. Finally at 7:30pm we offer a 1-on-1 social dancing Salsa-Casino class (two separate levels taught in different rooms simultaneously. At all of our monthly parties we celebrate the birthdays of everyone born in that month. Contact us in advance if your birthday is in November and we’ll put you on the guest list for the party (workshops not included, see below). The Lake Merritt Dance Center is a PERFECT venue for dancing, featuring a smooth vintage hardwood dance floor with ample space to dance.
