Maxine Ashley - @maxineashley Maxine Ashley newyorican grammy award winning writer and recording artist. Maxine started her career uploading YouTube videos of herself signing. Her sound is known for its unique blend of R&B, electronic, pop and alternative sounds. Her voice has captured the attention of various artists like Pharrell Williams, who signed her to his I am OTHER venture in 2014. Most recently, Maxine was named on TIDAL as a Rising Star and has since made herself a force to be acknowledged. Rocio Marie Cabrera - @rociomarie__ Rocio Marie Cabrera is a Dominican artist and small business owner . Rocio’s career began when she quit her job at a salon to begin selling prints of her artwork on 14th Street. Shortly after, she shifted her efforts to social media. Today, Rocio has 24K followers on Instagram. Rocio is best known for her paintings, apparel, and her unique jewelry pieces such as her iconic Fabuloso earrings. Bembona - @djbembona DJ Bembona is a Boricua-Panamanian DJ, Multimedia Artist, and Activist from Brooklyn NY. She is known for playing sets that speak to the multidimensionality of first-generation Latinas in New York. Her sound is a blend of salsa, reggaeton, Latin Trap with afrobeat and hip-hop. Her Debut Mixtape, “La Sala,” was premiered by Remezcla, and her latest mixtape “Trapbeldia” was featured on La Liga Zine. When she’s not behind the booth, Bembona is a vocal activist in her community. Dana Lu - @djdanalu Dana Lu is a Dominican-American DJ/Producer from New Jersey. She has DJ’d in several notable clubs, lounges, and festivals throughout the greater New York area. Last summer, she was featured in Hot97’s summer mix weekend. This year, Dana Lu will be releasing her debut EP entitled “Girls Having Fun.” DJ Lita - @djlita_ DJ Lita is an Ecuadorian DJ/Producer born in Queens NY, raised in Texas. Since her childhood, Dj Lita has been immersed in music. She learned to play the piccolo flute at a young age. She picked up DJing as a teenager as a way to escape depression. DJ Lita is known best for cultivating a unique blend of Southern hip-hop, Bounce, Electronic, Reggaeton, and more. Marie’s Thrift - @mariesthrift Marie Powell is a French Jamaican stylist from the greater NY area and creator of Marie’s Thrift. As a young girl, she would recycle her mother and grandmothers old clothes and turn them into trendy ensembles. Earlier this year, Marie decided to turn this passion into a business. Marie’s Thrift is a curated online boutique store whose mission is to give a second, third, and forth story to clothing items. Christina Madera Christina Madera is a first generation Dominican-American Administrative Coordinator for Afuego! In 2016, she graduated from the SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor’s in Public Relations. Her ‘9-5’ career has been mostly in nonprofit work with a focus on community outreach, education and training. In her personal time, she helps create dope events for Afuego! Dada Coz Dada Coz is a Bronx-bred Dominican performance artist, fitness professional, and film director. A proud underachiever of the broken New York City public school system, Dada taught herself to illustrate, paint, graffiti, sculpt, dance, and make films, going on to become a founding member of the global radical collective BRUJAS. As a certified fitness instructor and healer by day, Dada has held numerous movement workshops, most recently at Stanford University. With her work rooted in exhibitionism, indigenous spirituality, and satirical anti-art, Dada has three rules to inspire queer femmes of color like herself: honor your journey, challenge yourself, and BREATHE. Kelsey Kelsey Barbosa is the event coordinator, website developer, and social media manager for Port Morris Distillery (PMD) and The Bronx Tavern. When Kelsey was only 16 years old, her father and Godfather launched their brand of Pitorro, a Puerto Rican moonshine. Around the same time, they opened their bar/distillery PMD in the Bronx. After graduating with her degree in business management, Kelsey decided it was time she join the family business and has since been on the grind expanding both brands.
