DANCE WORKSHOP
Meet Dasha, dancer and choreographer from Barcelona, who will share her beautiful perspectives on dance technique and site specific work, supported by live music by Rafael Rocha and Luca Tomasicchio.
Dasha says :
The floor and space support and feed the exploration of movement and the emergence of our dance in its uniqueness. We will work with the structures and matter of the floor, space and skin as anchor points for our movements.
We will explore and play with the awareness of gravity so that the weight of gravity and breathing are a constant in our state of consciousness, between movement and stillness. Investigating our relationship with gravity includes: transferring weight, joint tension and expansion, perceiving patterns and resistances, falling, surrendering to gravity with integrity, and recycling and redirecting our energy from a receptive and perceptive relationship of forces physical.
I will share tools integrating dance improvisation and instantaneous composition, floor work, and partnering, martial arts, contact improvisation, and somatic practices.
For movers, students and professionals of dance, theater, circus, as well as other performing/live arts researchers.
Dasha Lavrennikov is a contemporary dancer and choreographer, dedicated to researching, teaching and curating dance and the performing arts. She works as a dancer and collaborator for various projects, museum and theaters between Europe, Latin America, United States and Russia, and with international choreographers such as Khosro Adibi, Benoit Lechambre, Collectivo LaMajara, Lucas Condró, Poliana Lima, Emma Villavecchia, Manuela Nogales, Inma Marin, Pipaluk Supernova, Manon Duquesnay, David Dorfman, Richard Colton.
Her background is ballet and contemporary dance, including bachelor and master in dance and performing arts.
PERCUSSION WORKSHOP
Meet Rafael Rocha, who invites us to explore individual and collective practices around rhythm, coordination, sound design, body percussion and voice. We move together in to overlapping contemporary and urban musical languages, our individuel rhythmic understanding is central, our unique sense of heartbeat and pulse.
The workshop aims to facilitate listening, perception and rhythmic understanding by associating rhyme with movement and shapes. Introducing polyrhythm and transforming our bodies into various instruments, brings us into contact with the cultural plurality of Brazilian percussion.
Raphael lives in Rio De Janeiro, composer, singer, percussionist and producer. He works with electronic beats, percussions and poetry, and collaborate with renowned Brazilian artists such as Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Ney Matogrosso, Adrianna Calcanhotto, Moreno Veloso, Roberta Sá, Jorge Mautner. He is currently recording his third solo-album, and work with music for cultural and social projects, in the favelas (urban slum), and with indigenous communities in the Amazonas.
