Dam Friday Dance happens on the 1st and 3rd Fridays (and 5th when there is one) of every month at The Fairfax Community Church alternating with Ecstatic Dance which happens on the 2nd and 4th Fridays. Come dance, connect and be with community in the sacred Fairfax Community Church Space. We are an open formate dance, so you will get lots of variety from DJs as they play their own style and have freedom to shape the dance in different ways. Plenty of room for Contact Improv as well as space to do your own thing! The dance will be a no talking space, though whispering or talking quietly in the back/corners/sides is allowed. Oakland Ecstatic Dance saved her in 2008, when her doctoral dissertation on spirit possession & psychiatry was literally driving her mad. Ever since, Ecstatic Dance has been her twice weekly, non-negotiable pilgrimage to the dance floor -to get down and right with herself, her community, her body and the Universe. It is no surprise then, that VESICA is a dancer’s DJ inspired by Global Bass & world electronica deeply committed to the Heart, Soul and Funk of her dancers Doors open at 7:30pm.
