Dance Chance Omaha hosts Rhythm Weekend

7:00PM: Dance Chance Omaha: performance outside with Jessica Westerlin and company (that's YOU). 7:30PM: Tap Dance History: Film & Discussion: Roxane Butterfly on the legacy of her mentor, legendary tap dancer, Jimmy Slyde 8:30PM: Instructor Q&A/Discussion Panel: Roxane Butterfly will then join our other teaching staff for a Q&A Discussion Panel. Star Dixon, Kyle VanNewkirk, Nathan Bugh, and Gaby Cook will all answer questions about their influences, goals, and the importance of building a strong, healthy dance community. 9:30PM: The Jam: An inclusive, open, tap dance & jazz dance jam to live music by Joe Smith & the Rhythm Weekend Players. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to to participate in the jam. 10:30-12 Open Dancing: Social Swing, Jazz, Tap, or Freestyle Dancing to Live Jazz Music. COST: The Saturday Night event is free for Rhythm Weekend participants, and is pay what you want for everyone else (we recommend $5-$10). This money will help pay for the band, the venue, and the equipment rental costs. We will pass the hat during the event to collect admission fees and donations. Please use the honor system when paying. LIVE MUSIC: The Jam / Cutting Contest will be done with live music. Please be sure to recognize the musicians' contribution by clapping after each song. And when they do something you like, thank them. DANCE SHOES: Bancroft Street Market has a wood floor. The owner of the space is allowing us to use the space under the condition that we do not tap directly on the wood floor. We will be setting up some wood platforms/ dance floor that we can tap on.
