It's been a long time coming, but change is gonna come to Cambridge! The Foundry is an exciting new art and maker space, with dance lessons and a party as part of their Grand Opening weekend!
The Foundry has a new theater and dance studio, each with air conditioning and sprung wood floors! We've got a whole line up of classes in dance styles done around Boston for you to check out. Each will be an hour long with a half hour in between for socialization.

- You’ve probably heard of blues music, but have you heard of blues dancing? Going by names like slow drag, funky butt, and fishtail, there’s a whole family of blues dances that grew up alongside the music. Get a taste of the blues with this class open to all levels!
Studio: Introduction to Vernacular Jazz
Shuyi Oei, Mari Foster
- In this class you will explore the basic movements and rhythms of Vernacular Jazz, a collection of dances created in the African-American communities during the late 1800’s through mid 1900’s, to jazz and swing music. The term Vernacular Jazz or Authentic Jazz Dancing is used as a way to distinguish itself from the modern dancing and Ballet-connected “modern” jazz dance movement that started more and more to take over the term ‘jazz dance’.

Theater: Lindy Hop for Beginners
Elizabeth Coppock, Matthew Briggs
- This class presents a systematic introduction to the fundamentals of goofing off with a partner while enjoying swing music. 4-count, 6-count, and 8-count patterns will be yours to play with by the end of it.
Studio: Fusion - The Dance You Can't Do Wrong

- Fusion is the blending of any dance styles. Come enjoy your own style mixing and evolving with the community - you can't go wrong.
