About this Event
Join Alex Bryan and Madalyn Milazzo for an afternoon of Latin dance workshops suitable for all Salsa and Bachata dancers to raise funds for Women for Afghan Women's emergency appeal.
WAW, the largest women’s organisation in Afghanistan, has evacuated hundreds of staff and thousands of vulnerable women and their families from Kabul where they have witnessed kidnappings and looting.
Founded in April 2001, the organisation provides shelter for women at risk of violence and death and provides counselling, education, and vocational training. After the Taliban was ousted from power by a US-led invasion 20 years ago, women and girls have enjoyed more freedoms including the right to work and go to school.
But 20 years of progress could be undone after Kabul fell to the Taliban on Sunday, with insurgents now claiming victory over the country. Under Taliban rule, women and girls are banned from going to school over the age of 10, are forced to wear a burqa and severely restricted in day-to-day life.
At Dance Culture we are committed to helping in whatever small way we can and so we will be donating 100% of funds raised to Women for Afghan Women's emergency appeal.
These concept-based workshops are designed to be beneficial to all Salsa and Bachata dancers of all experience levels (assuming you at least know the basic steps and simple turns).
