Dance Lab :: Hudson Valley Edition @ The Kiva

Join us for a very special Dance Lab gathering as we bring ecstatic movement to the Hudson Valley! We'll start with a guided movement class, followed by a free form dance with a live DJ, ending with a closing sound meditation. This will be a safe and inclusive space, welcoming people from all walks of life to freely express themselves through movement. No prior dance experience is required, just come as you are! ♦️ SCHEDULE: 7PM: Doors Open 7:15-8PM: Journey Dance with Ama'zjhi 8-9:30PM: Ecstatic Dance with DJ Omar Aena 9:30-10: Sound Bath with Molly McCarthy Tweedy, Ama’zjhi, & Madeleine Grace + Closing Circle ♦️ TICKETS: Tickets are $20. Capacity is limited to 30 people to ensure comfort and spaciousness for everyone. If it's not a clear yes, it's a no! Artist Bio: Omar Aena is of Iraqi descent and is a world music DJ, community organizer and event producer based in NYC. He is the founder of Dance Lab, a Brooklyn-based collective that explores dance as a form of somatic therapy. He has hosted many events around the world, including retreats and group trips such as ‘Dance Beyond’ in Guatemala & ‘LILA: A Journey into Gnawa Music’ in Morocco. He is also working on a docu-series about the roots of Ecstatic Dance, with each episode focusing on a particular traditional culture that integrates art & spirituality. As a DJ he mixes together traditional world music with electronic sounds, with a particular focus on songs from his middle-eastern heritage.
