✨FREE EVENT✨ Yo-yo, Dance Medicine Philly family! We are beyond excited for our next dance because we are partnering up with Our People Entertainment and working in coordination with Philadelphia’s Parks & Recreation Department. Please join us for this special FREE dance in front of The Art museum on Sunday, July 17th from 2-6pm and be a part of THE 2022 OVAL XP! Eight acres of chestnut trees, grass lawns and public art encompass Eakins Oval, a public space, is transformed into a summer oasis called ‘The Oval.’ ∞ The Oval XP is every Wednesday-Sunday night and in the Eakins oval there will be local, national and international acts on its SUMMER STAGE. ∞ THE IMAGINATION SPACE will house programming and activities for kids of all ages. ∞ THE MARKETPLACE will offer a space for Philadelphia’s incredible artisans and merchants to display and sell their products. ∞ 2 IMMERSIVE ART DOMES will provide assorted wellness and entertainment experiences, a FERRIS WHEEL OVER 100 feet tall will offer amazing views, in addition to so much more! If you're new to Dance Medicine Philly and how we run things, our events revolve around a few simple yet strict rules (since this is a free event in a public space, we can't necessarily police people and nor do we wish to so! We will be loosening our normal participation commitments.) And at the same time, in order to honor our original rules, we ask that there is: NO cell phone use, NO drinks & NO talking ON the dance floor. Although for the first time ever, there will be a professional videographer on site capturing all the events happening so we can share the magic of these gatherings and grow together! And we are welcoming back KALLUM! Our mission revolves around creating safe spaces for humans to be fully self-expressed safely and liberate themselves from judgments of themselves and each other. We achieve this by a few simple guidelines… Our events are drug and alcohol-free, and there is no talking on the dance floor and no use of cell phones during our events. This is to assure participants can feel free to truly express themselves from the inside out without any distractions. We call ourselves Dance Medicine Philly because a large majority of people need alcohol or substances to feel comfortable dancing. But something happens when you step on the dance floor without those thing--you must face the judgements you hold of yourself and of others. And at a certain point in the dance experience, there often comes a moment where you surrender and allow yourself to whole-heartedly accept yourself and others; and this is the ecstatic moment where your Dance becomes your Medicine!
