About this Event

Hello Beloveds, Just a quick announcement to let you dancers all know that Dance The Change is currently doing monthly events & the next one is Sunday August 22nd, from 2-5pm at Snow Park/Lake Merritt. We will be doing monthlies Aug/Sep/Oct & then pivoting back to weekly events by November (maybe sooner if we get a team to help make it happen - DM me if interested! Looking for helpers to organize DTC events). Mark your calendars for Sunday September 19th 2-5pm for the next monthly. Also, we are working on collaborating with a few other silent disco collectives to do a large Bay Area Silent Disco Festival which is looking to be freakin' FANTASTIC! Stay tuned for more info on that soon. The past 25+ events dancing & grooving together at Lake Merritt's Snow Park have been amazing! We have enjoyed the smiles & dance moves of those that attended various events the past 15 months as this community has evolved. And... Together, we raised a total of $1.4k raised so far for Roots Community Health Center + Almost Home Oakland that is building tiny homes for the homeless, plus recently the past 15 events raised $3,472 for Sogoreate Land Trust! Thanks for your generous donations! We appreciate you! That's about $5k raised for great local non-profits doing good things! And how did we do it? VESICA, while originally from Berlin, has lived most of her adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. Oakland Ecstatic Dance saved her in 2008, when her doctoral dissertation on spirit possession & psychiatry was literally driving her mad. Ever since, Ecstatic Dance has been her twice weekly, non-negotiable pilgrimage to the dance floor -to get down and right with herself, her community, her body and the Universe. It is no surprise then, that VESICA is a dancer’s DJ inspired by Global Bass & world electronica deeply committed to the Heart, Soul and Funk of her dancers. https://www.soundcloud.com/Vesica-ecstatic https://www.mixcloud.com/Vesica-ecstatic FB/IG @Vesica.ecstatic
