Recognised as performer, choreographer and teacher both nationally and internationally. He post graduated in SEAD (Salzburg) and Post Masters in APASS (Advanced performance and scenography studies) (Belgium) . A yoga practitioner and a martial art teacher, trained in kalari payattu and contemporary dance. He has been organising Play Practice Apprenticeship program and Yoga Practice teachers training program for the past 5 years. In 2019 he launched the first Fight Practice martial arts workshop and also organises yearly residencies for artists. He won Pecda award for ‘Architect of Self Destruction,' a work which was created by Ningappa himself and performed in several venues all around India and Spain. He taught and performed in Nunart and Lacaldera (Barcelona), Ibiza movement and performance Festival."No Speaking Solo" Performed in Isadora Festival (Russia). “Too far east is west" performance with Carla Guida Johnson in Bangalore, with Ana jezebel with Devir Capa (Portugal) and Nicola Fabiana (Germany). ————————————————————————— Rest in Motion Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy has been developing pedagogy for contemporary dance since 2004. His training is informed from multiple sources movement methodology’s, the core of the workshop is to find safe movement practice and to recognize individuality of the dancer in the class. The class will be a combination guided improvisation and set movement tasks, lessons will also involve some video presentation, reading and working on a presentation by the end of the semester. Aim of the course is to give an overview of contemporary dance practices and an introduction to movement composition. Practical sessions encourage the students to reflect and explore the possibilities of movement. Emphasis is placed on breath, alignment, joint articulation, and the use of gravity and momentum to facilitate movement. Creative sessions allow students to explore creating short movement sketches which will demand them to think, question and investigate body and its politics. This workshop is for all dance lovers and dancing enthusiast, dancing nerds contact impro freaks, traditional dancers, , all the other spirits, all the ghost and creatures, musicians, philosophers, and other bodily people, you are all very welcome to come. ———————————————————————————————————————————- Purnendra Meshram is an India based movement artist who is working nationally and internationally. Though he started dancing way back in his childhood, his professional carrier started in 2013, when he joined Attakkalari diploma for Movement Arts and Mix Media. He is mainly trained in various technique of Contemporary along with a good authority in Hip-hop and Kalaripayattu. He had trained under some finest mentors of the world.He worked with many renowned choreographers in India and abroad. He worked in Dubai Parks and Resort for a year as a performer. Currently he is performing, teaching and focused on creating his own works. His recent work “2 Men” won the first prize at Festival 10 Sentidos, Choreographic Competition (Valencia, Spain) and also claimed the runner up title in PECDA 2018 (Chennai,India). He is also devised and choreographed “In A Muddle“, a solo improvisation piece so far and a work in progress, showcased in Chhattisgarh and Play Practice Artists Residency,Bangalore. —————————————————————————————————————————— Papia Chakraborty -Kathak Contemporary Dance Practitioner The class will mainly focus on Kathak (Indian classical dance). We will start with warming-up, stretching and activating the working muscles specifically for this dance. We will concentrate on Indian classical rhythms “Taal -Tritaal”, Kathak gestures and transforming the movement into a flow of sequences.
