About this Event

Join Megan Lowe and Brenton Cheng in an invigorating workshop centered in contact improvisation and dynamic partnering! Riding the momentum of enthusiasm from folks who witnessed our performances of "Finger Trap" in 2019, we are facilitating a supportive environment to share cultivated skills from our creative process for "Tangram" (premiering December 9th-12th) and are excited to dance with you! People of all experience levels are invited. We would like to especially encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to join us, with discounted rates and two workshop scholarships available. Together we will explore various improvisational scores that focus on giving and getting support when moving with others. Then we will dive into some of our favorite lifts, finding seamless ways of flowing into and out of them, followed by connecting these ideas through thrilling movement sequences. Moving on to contextualizing what we have explored during the day, we will spend time developing our own original movement ideas, and sharing them with each other. Sensing, shifting, supporting, seeing, and being seen. - Note: This workshop will take place in the glorious majesty that is the Finnish Hall. Proof of vaccination is required, and we will be dancing with masks. Breaks are built in, with a longer break halfway through where we will have a moment to go outside, unmask, catch a breeze, and have a snack (some tasty treats will be provided). Email Megan Lowe at [email protected] if you have any questions. - Register via Athletic Playground: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=4796&stype=-115&sView=day&sLoc=0&sTrn=100000431 - Early Bird (before November 1st): $60 General / $40 BIPOC - Regular: $80 General / $55 BIPOC
