All locations are a short jaunt from Jamboree for those who'd like to continue the afternoon with live music and social dancing. **About the Instructor** Brenda Jean Russell has been teaching Balboa since 2001 and is grateful to have learned from many of the dancers who carried the tradition forward, including Willie & Lila Desatoff, Maxie Dorf, Anne Mills, Ray Cunningham, Hal & Marge Takier, Dean Raftery, Bart Bartolo, Sylvia Sykes, Erik Robison, Steve White, Denise White, Christian Frommelt, Thea Nielsen, Peter Loggins, Joel Plys, Allison Black, and many others. Her classes blend traditional Balboa concepts with movement education, musicality, and social dance skills developed through 25 years of teaching and study. **DanceMode Statement** DanceMode honors the Black American roots of Jazz, Blues, and Swing dances and values live music, cultural context, improvisation, creativity, community, and lifelong learning.
