Join us for an evening of lessons, live music, and social dancing - special out of towner edition! We have Blake Thiessen visiting from SoCal, and the West End Stompers out to play for us from Sacramento. Come join the fun! SPECIAL SCHEDULE FOR THE NIGHT: 7-8 pm: Intermediate Balboa Lesson with Blake & Sam ** You should be comfortable with the balboa basic to take this class. 8-9 pm: Intermediate Lindy Hop Lesson with Blake & Sam 9-9:30 pm: *Free* Drop-In Beginner Taster Lesson with Sam 9-11:30 pm: Social Dance to the West End Stompers! GUEST INSTRUCTOR: BLAKE THIESSEN A proud member of the Southern California dance scene, Blake has stayed up irresponsibly late on far too many nights dancing. If he's not social dancing, he's probably teaching, competing, or analyzing old clips. And always enjoying the music. This love of dance is partly why you'll have seen him in so many competitions recently. He can't bare to sit and watch when he could be up and dancing. And his enthusiasm has brought him a wave of prizes in both lindy hop and balboa contests. As a dancer and teacher, Blake values connected, finessed, historically rooted dancing. That means he likes his balboa to feel and look as good as it can. Few things make him happier than seeing students actively improving and enjoying their dancing. THE BAND The West End Stompers is a trad jazz & swing band in the Sacramento area. The garage closes at 11:45pm even though their signs say midnight, so if you park there, please make sure to have your car out by 11:45pm. In the Plaza, take the elevator to the 2nd floor. The dance venue is the first suite on the left. -Franklin 88 Parking Garage. Located on Franklin Street between 9th and 10th Street, across the street from Pacific Renaissance Plaza -A garage on the corner of Webster and 11th Street -Street parking (free after 6pm) From BART: -The closest BART station is 12th Street Station at Broadway in Oakland. Walk south on Broadway to 11th Street and turn left. Continue on 11th Street and turn right on Franklin to enter the Pacific Renaissance Plaza.
