Salsa Night - Wednesday, July 6th 7:30-8:30 Lesson COVER: $10 Rodney Eric López is the Global Program Director of Dancing Classrooms, headquartered in New York City. His teaching work with Dancing Classrooms is featured in the Paramount Classics hit documentary “Mad Hot Ballroom”. Rodney is also an accomplished Latin dance instructor and for 16 years, was the Director of the Salsa Program at Dance Manhattan, where he also taught, performed and collaborated with his long-time dance partner, Mariana Parma. Colleagues and students alike praise him for his entertaining and thoughtful teaching style. He was featured in the PBS documentary “Nuyoricans: Puerto Ricans in New York.” His dance classes were named “Best in New York” by New York Magazine and were highlighted in the book Nueva York: A Guide to Latino Life in the Five Boroughs. He was also a finalist in the “Better Man, Better World” Search by GQ Magazine in 2011. He was team captain of the Addie-Tude Dance Company under the direction of Addie Diaz and a member of Areytos Performance Works, an innovative Afro Caribbean dance theater company. Mariana Parma is widely known and admired for her masterful expertise in Argentine- Tango and Salsa. Mariana’s approach in teaching and performing is to transmit the essence of each dance style through the musicality and movement. This approach makes her a sought out in demand performer, teacher, and choreographer. Mariana Parma teaches in NYC and abroad. She taught for more than 10 years at Dance Manhattan, Salsa on 2, and Argentine Tango. She has taught and performed Salsa at Pier 54 Moondance with Rodney Lopez for more than 300 people. She currently performs and teaches throughout the US and abroad.
