Please join us for the basics of Argentine Tango! No partner or experience necessary, just bring your comfortable shoes and happy feet! We will rotate partners frequently during the lesson so you will instantly make lots of new friends!! You will have a chance to mingle and dance with each other and try out your dance moves to live music. He has a deep passion for music and dance. He started his dance studies in 1997 and has studied in both North and South America with some of the most influential and celebrated tango dancers and teachers of our time. He has directed, acted, co-wrote and danced in tango plays, tango films and organized milongas and non-profit tango events in New York City. He has performed voice-overs for professional tango teacher's instructional videos and wrote the liner notes for many tango musician's CDs. Batt wrote a monthly column for ReporTango Magazine is the author of three published books on subjects ranging from acting and public speaking to jazz. He is currently finishing a book on tango. Music is a very important element in Batt Johnson's life and he has varied experiences in the music industry. He was a national host and writer for MTV’s VH-1 Music Television, a music writer and host for Only One New York, a weekly magazine-formatted television show on PBS, managed bands and sold music on television as a home shopping host. He studied music and music theory in several schools. His Bachelor of Arts Degree is in Social Theory (Sociology) and Media Studies. His Master of Arts Degree is in Communication Arts & Sciences with a focus in television. Batt Johnson now teaches tango but considers himself to be a lifelong student of tango dance and music and tonight, Batt will go dancing. Adam Tully Adam Tully’s skills as a guitarist, arranger, and composer are equaled by his credentials Latin American music. Adam made his debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2002 and appeared subsequently as a soloist with the Port Angeles Symphony and in solo recitals. After studying in Buenos with the great tango guitarist Anibal Arias, he took an active role in tango, playing in New York with Octavio Brunetti, Daniel Binelli, Raul Jaurena, Tito Castro, and Pablo Pereyra. His trio, Importango, has hosted the weekly event ‘Tango Thursdays’ in Brooklyn since 2009, and will release its debut album in early 2014. Adam plays with Guitarras Lunfardas, a tango guitar group that accompanies singer Pablo Pereyra. Adam has performed at Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Kaufman Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Centro Cultural San Martín (Buenos Aires) and has appeared on many recordings, jingles, and film scores. He holds a Master of Music from The New School/Mannes, an Artist Diploma from SUNY Purchase, a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
