Our fears can influence the choices we make and limit our field of vision. By dancing with our fears we can begin to meet them and see that they are not our enemies but our friends. Meeting our fears invites us to see the vulnerable parts of ourselves, our illusions, our deep rooted habits and automatic beliefs. Through self observation we can bring these unconscious patterns to light and open doors to change them. By opening the door to change, we can notice many new doors that we were not able to see before. Lets meet our fears and invite them to dance in a space of non-judgemental awareness. What can we discover and what new places can we discover from this meeting? I am also interested in the connection between the jam space and our everyday life. I believe that by changing our habits in the jam, it is easier and more friendly for us to make changes in our everyday lives. This topic will also be an object of our study. As a person leading workshops, I have ongoing questions - how to teach without teaching and how to do less? As said by Ray Chang, “It’s not about teaching somebody else what I know, it’s about how do I help people learn about themselves.” This workshop is not aimed at giving you tools that objectively work. Rather, I can share what works for me and invite you to do your research. I see Contact Improvisation as a beautiful tool that we can play with together and explore our inner worlds. From my experience I have noticed that my dancing changes significantly not only after hours of practice but after changing my perspective. I would like us to play with this change together and see where it takes us. At the end of the workshop we will have an evening of performance where we will have the opportunity to share our research. This is not compulsory but a wonderful opportunity to meet with any fears that may arise in this context. This evening will incorporate the screening of Alexandra Wuzyk’s recently completed short film, ‘Fear for the Whole’. Alexandra will also open a space for painting and creative expression during the workshop. I invite you to join, especially if you are afraid of this meeting! During his studies in Poznań, he worked in a forest kindergarten, led CI classes and movement workshops dedicated for parents and children. He organizes jams, workshops and lead classes in various cities in Poland and at festivals (Israel CI Convention, Solo&CI Tirol festival, Warsaw Flow, FRU festival). Paweł draws inspiration from practicing the Feldenkrais Method. He enjoys learning new things, doing less (sometimes too much) and following curiosity and playfulness. He explores improvisation in motion and playing music - he is fascinated by combining these worlds and the dialogue between them.
