About this Event

Dancing with Nature, Loss and Disappearance, 6-16 May 2021, with Dolores Dewhurst-Marks About Being Nature: Being Nature project encourages people to discover their own way of connecting with deeper self and the natural world. To be empowered by authenticity and intuitive wisdom. Alive in the poeticality, beauty and mystery of everyday life. Developed through the practice of contemplation, writing poetry, contact improvisation and dancing with nature. About Project: This project will explore the nature of our relationship with loss and disappearance through contemplative dancing with nature and writing. Nature will be our metaphoric partner in poetic inquiry and embodiment of existential matters of impermanence, mystery, and vulnerability. “The only choice we have as we mature is how we inhabit our vulnerability, how we become larger and more courageous and more compassionate through our intimacy with disappearance, our choice is to inhabit vulnerability as generous citizens of loss, robustly and fully, or conversely, as misers and complainers, reluctant and fearful, always at the gates of existence, but never bravely and completely attempting to enter, never wanting to risk ourselves, never walking fully through the door.” David Whyte With this project we will face uncomfortable and potentially challenging subjects. It will offer space to approach these sensitive and essential matters of life poetically and creatively. This process is not for becoming or getting something. In our meetings there will be freedom to discover your own way of relating and inhabiting the poetic material proposed. Beyond the sessions everyone is encouraged to make space for contemplative writing. Sessions will take place in various nature locations around the island, that will involve some trekking. And studio meetings will be for dance improvisation, sharing and contemplating poems. The first 5 days we will immerse body, imagination, and presence into meetings with elements of nature and their poetic poignancy. The last 5 days we will develop and embody our individual process with dance performances in nature, witnessed by one another, and potentially filmed to share with wider audience if we wish. This project is part of art continuum nomadic residency's spring program. For more information http://artcontinuum.space/ To register please contact me. Places are limited.
